New Multi-Billion Dollar Vehicle to Promote Investments in Rural America

 

Announcement Tomorrow at White House During First-Ever Rural Opportunity Investment Conference

 

WASHINGTON, July 23, 2014 – TOMORROW, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and CoBank Chief Executive Officer Robert B. Engel will announce a major new multi-billion dollar vehicle to promote investments in rural infrastructure. Target investments will include health facilities, schools and other educational facilities, rural water and wastewater systems, energy projects, broadband expansion, local and regional food systems, and other rural infrastructure. The private fund will represent a new approach to supporting job-creating infrastructure projects across the country.

 

The announcement will be made during day two of the White House Rural Council inaugural Rural Opportunity Investment conference. The conference is bringing together top leaders from the business community and financial institutions, senior government officials, economic development experts and others from across the country to discuss potential investments in business and infrastructure projects in rural communities.

 

The Rural Opportunity Investment Conference is part of the Obama Administration's ongoing efforts, through the White House Rural Council, to promote investment in rural America and grow the U.S. economy.
