Seeking Applicants for Appointment to Protect Our Kids Commission (SB 66)

Applications are due Friday, July 11, 2014

Applications for appointment to the Protect Our Kids Commission are now being accepted.

The Commission is charged with studying the relationship between child protective services and child welfare services and the rate of child abuse and neglect fatality. Section 3, Senate Bill 66, 83rd Legislature, Regular Session, 2013, directs the DSHS Commissioner to appoint one member to the Commission with experience in behavioral health.

To qualify, an applicant must have experience in the field of behavioral health, including mental health and substance use disorders, as well as an understanding of the relationship between child protective services and child welfare services and child abuse and neglect fatalities.

Additional information regarding the Commission is included in the documents below. It is anticipated that the Commission will complete its work by December 31, 2015. Members of the Commission serve without compensation and are not entitled to reimbursement for expenses.

All persons who wish to be considered as a nominee must complete the application below. All applications will remain on file for twelve (12) months. Completed applications, including reference contacts, must be mailed to the following address by Friday, July 11, 2014.

In selecting members to serve on an advisory committee, the DSHS Commissioner, considers individuals' qualifications for the position, background, and interest in serving on the committee. The DSHS Commissioner also attempts to achieve diversity in terms of ethnicity, gender, and geographic location (when applicable).
